Rosamund Pike Joining 'Wrath of the Titans'

Rosamund PikeRosamund Pike is negotiating to play Andromeda inWrath of the Titans, the Jonathan Liebesman-directed sequel to Warner Bros’Clash of the Titans.

Pike, who broke out as a Bond girl inDie Another Day, has been mentioned in connection with several high-profile roles lately. She was considered for Emma Frost inX-Men: First Class, which ultimately went to“Mad Men” actress January Jones. Then, recently, she was on thespeculative shortlistfor a“major female lead” inSuperman: Man of Steel, which is reportedly General Zod’s accomplice, Ursa, and has not been cast yet. Although the shooting schedules don’t overlap (Clash 2 is set for March 2011, Superman for June), Pike is likely out of the running for Ursa.

Andromeda was featured in the 2010, faux-3D hit and played by Alexa Davalos, but she is“unavailable for the sequel,” according toDeadline. Sam Worthington (Perseus), Gemma Arterton (Io), Liam Neeson (Zeus), and Ralph Fiennes (Hades) are attached to reprise their roles from the first film, which made $492 million worldwide last year.  The sequel will be shot in 3D this time, rather than converted last minute, and scheduled for Spring2012.
